Who does not like to delight their palate with the most exquisite delicacies, in the most beautiful Municipality of the Sierra Gorda of Querétaro?

Jalpense cuisine with its richness, variety and flavor is part of the gastronomy of the Sierra Gorda, a day here in Jalpan would be incomplete without tasting a rich Serrano jerky: dried beef, marinated with sour orange and salt.

Another delicacy of regional cuisine is zacahuilt, a huge tamale made with crushed corn, different chili peppers and pork or chicken meat, all wrapped in banana leaves and cooked overnight in wood-fired ovens, it will undoubtedly leave you amazed by the way of preparation and the unique flavor of this singular dish.

The Acamayas (river prawns) are one more example of the gastronomic diversity of the Sierra Gorda, these prawns can be found in some rivers in the region and are prepared in various ways.

The coffee in this area has an incomparable flavor, it is produced in the municipality of Landa de Matamoros (community of Neblinas) and it is one of the organic products produced in the region.

If you are feeling peckish, we invite you to enjoy the bean gorditas, oven gorditas, or wild fruit stews such as izote flower and nopal tunas, of course you cannot miss the scrambled eggs, eggs on the comal accompanied with a coyol sauce (very small red tomato).

Do not forget to try a tile corn atole (sunflower seed) a wild guayabilla atole or a delicious puzcua atole made from corn and accompany it with a piece of piloncillo.
