Jalpan Dam

It is located 1.5 kilometers/ 1 mile from Jalpan. It’s the best place for sport fishing. Outdoors lovers will find the opportunity for cycling and hiking while they observe the fauna of the place in its natural habitat.

If you prefer, you could adventure yourself and go by boat or kayak into the dam and watch the birds that made in this place their home.

Since 2004 the Dam is part of the Ramsar List of Wetlands, because it houses more than 30 species of birds and also receives migrant birds.

Jalpan River

It is the ideal space for biking, horseback riding or simply taking a walk in company of your family. The enormous trees that predominate in the area will show you the way.

This ecosystem is known as a gallery forest because the trees on the river form a tunnel, if you put attention you can observe the birds and the local fauna. You can start the walk in the municipal market (two blocks from the main garden) and finish it at “La Playita” or get until Jalpan Dam.

Santa María River

It is located 40 minutes from Tancoyol Town, the trip is trough a secondary way, where you could see the change of ecosystems and birds watching.
The canyon of the river is seen since some kilometers before get it, one of the main attractions of this place is its blue and clear water.

Suggestions:
In the river, there is not offered any service, so, don’t forget food supply in Tancoyol or Jalpan.

How to get here:
Take the way to Tancoyol and once there you have to follow the secondary road to San Antonio Tancoyol, before this site, you will find a cruise that shows the way to the river.

Tanchanaquito

This impressive river is located in the limit with the state of San Luis Potosi, near the town of Valle Verde, you can get this place by these ways:
Without get out of the state of Queretaro: first you need to arrive to the town of Valle Verde, once there, you must ask for a guide and start the walk of approximate 2.5 hours.

For the second option you need to drive to the municipality of Arroyo Seco, and then take the road to “Lagunillas” in the state of San Luis Potosi until cross to “Rayon”; then, take the road to “Ciudad Valles” until the town of “20 de noviembre”, once you cross this location, you will be in Tanchanaquito.
